Digital Television Transmission Being Tested

It is still a little more than eight months away from when analog signals will stop being transmitted and digital signals will start being used for local broadcasting channels.

However, it has been released that there is still some testing needed according to the FCC and the market that has been selected to test this new system out is Wilmington North Carolina.

These channels will turn off their analog signals and make the switch on September 8th, this testing is to give broadcasters the chance to understand and correct any problems as well as viewers to make the transition.

According to the FCC the reason in choosing Wilmington, as a market to test the new digital signal out is that the commercial stations in this area have completed the necessary construction that will allow them to broadcast in digital transmissions.

Another part of this change in Wilmington is that the FCC had to ensure that viewers have the converter boxes available to them if they are not currently a subscriber of satellite or other providers.

The best alternative to avoid any problems is to subscribe to Direct TV.
