Will DirecTV Save Show For Fans?

It appears that a program named Moonlight that airs on CBS has met with the chopping block and the fans are fighting back by asking in a big way that Direct TV pick it up.

The program while it might not be the sports event of the year has a following of fans that do not want to see it end and want something done about it and rather than sit and complain about it they have organized to get their Friday night program back.

The program is about a detective who is a vampire, has a girlfriend who is not and solves crimes, often with the help of the vampire community. It is also sandwiched in between two other popular programs that complete the Friday night lineup with solving crimes and dealing with ghosts.

While it might not be a complete night for men it is for women on television, this front is so organized that they have taken their demand to keep this program on the air to DirecTV.

They also have a message board where they not only discuss the program they have a poll to keep it on the air that will be sent to DirecTV who asked for it and would like to know how many of these fans would change to DirecTV should they pick it up like they have other popular programs that were canceled.

This poll has entries for those who have DirecTV Deals already, those who will switch and those who will not change their current provider. The percentage for those who will switch so they can see their favorite Friday nigh program is 71% of the votes.

The fan base within the first twenty-four hours of the poll had more than 1300 voters at Moonlight Line.

There is also a page where fans and non-fans are letting their thoughts be known after an article that let the Internet public know about these fans and their plight. This can be found at Mark’s Sci-Fi / Fantasy Blog.

The big question that is left is what will DirecTV decide, either way it shows DirecTV has their subscribers and future subscribers in mind with their programming line up.

Digital Television—Just What Is It?

With all the talk about Direct TV television today everywhere including on television it really makes you want to know the difference and so far the talk is all about standard, digital and HD television.

Digital satellite television is the most talked about right now because of the change in transmission of local channels in the coming year.

To explain digital television, information is transmitted that provides the picture on the television screen, and sound is transmitted in data bits. With digital direct tv deals the transmission for the picture is a higher resolution, which means a higher grade of picture that is seen on the screen.

For this reason channels that have digital programs can send more information and channels like the local channels before the change are sending signals for analog televisions meaning they are not getting the full effect of what will be seen when it is transmitted in directv digital programming.

Do I have, Analog or Digital And How Do I Know?

Everyone has heard that analog television signals are going to end in February of 2009, in order to even watch local channels unless you do one of several things you will be without television. The first thing would be to purchase the converter box that is being talked about, the second thing is if you have a television with a digital tuner you can still receive the new digital signals that will be transmitted. The third thing that you can to is go with a cable or satellite TV provider.

What you need to know is what type of television you have, is it a standard television that receives analog signals or is it a television with a digital tuner.

Ways to tell if have a digital tuner:

If the television was purchased prior to 1998 it is most likely a standard television.

While it varies there were many of the television models that have been sold from the year 2004 that have digital tuners. Although this is not a hard and fast rule, it does depend on the model.

Is It Green Or Is It Greens?

The satellite company that brings the golf channel into your home with the greens of professional golfing tournaments is now also bringing green to their company outlook.

For anyone who is concerned with the planet they know what it takes to make paper, the loss of perfectly healthy trees, the pollution of the fuel that will transport the trees to the paper mill and then add to that the amount of power that will be used and chemicals to produce paper.

Once this paper is produced and companies use them to mail customers their bills along with other literature using ink that has chemicals and that will all eventually end up in a dump someplace. Then add to that the fuel that was used to carry this mail to millions of homes. It all adds up to a lot of pollution when each step is looked at and combined.

To stop this vicious cycle one satellite company has stood up and said no more and that company is Direct Tv that has gone green.

Now they offer customers paperless billing, email updates on their services and an auto bill pay for those who choose it, plus there is a $20.00 incentive to go green with the satellite company.

This might not sound like a large dent in the environment but when everything is totaled up and then multiplied by millions it is a big enough dent that if other companies followed in their path the environment would be better for it.

What Does Television Have To Offer Today

There is so much that television has to offer today, when you have satellite television service there are all types of sports packages that can be ordered, movie channels, and local channels and there are so many programs that are broadcast in HD.

Then there is HD, this is digital signals that are sent to the receiver and to the television that will appear in the clearest pictures that have ever been transmitted to a television set.

Then there is surround sound and added to an HD television makes it like being at the movies no matter what channel your watching unless it is a sports channel then the game, race or match is like sitting in the stands. That makes it all worth it alone but then add it to the fact that within the next year the local channels will no longer be broadcast in analog which means unless you have a digital television or have a special receiver there will be no television.

Then there is the Direct TV DVR receivers that can record hours of programs, they can even record entire seasons of a favorite program and they are also capable of recording the game that was transmitted in HD.

Then there is all the channels that can be seen, the days of three or four local channels is over and today with a digital television and a service provider there are literally hundreds of channels.

This is what television has to offer today, programs any time of day or night, in surround sound or not and in HD or not but always a high quality transmission meaning the programs are clear.

What’s All The Talk About HD

HD is all that is ever talked about with television anymore, and it might not take a rocket scientist to see the difference between HD and standard television there are questions.

Questions such as, is one brand of television better than another? This is something to be concerned with it is a major purchase and one of the best ways to find this out is to read up on the comparisons of the different brands and what they have to offer.

Another question is if this television is purchased where will if find the most HD programs and the answer to that one is DirecTV, they have far more HD programming than cable or other satellite providers.

So, what is the true advantage, well if your in the market for a new television this is one that will have the clearest picture available, it is also one that when paired up with surround sound a movie is really a movie but in the comfort of the armchair.

There is also the fact that analog transmissions will end in February of 2009, and then it is a choice of digital television or purchasing a box to see any programming.

If nothing else the quality of watching HD wins out over standard television any day of the week.

Satellite Signals—How Do They Reach The Tv

Everyone one has heard of Satellite TV but do they really know about satellite TV, such as DirecTV has more HD programs than the other guys and what does this mean, well it means that they have more actual satellites sending signals.

It’s the technical side that most people don’t know about satellite TV, like this signal that is sent from the satellite is sent to the dish on the home and then on to the receiver hooked to the televisions in the home. Sounds simple right, well this is how it really works; the satellite does send a signal but there is more.

The satellite company purchases programs so they have the permission and the right to show them to their customers, then they have sent up satellites, these satellites send radio signals to the local broadcasting center.

At the local broadcasting center the radio signal is processed into a signal that is sent to the dish on your home. From there the signal once received is sent to the receivers that are attached to the Televisions in your home.

In the end is the programs you want to see transmitted to your hd television and this is summing it up rather simply because it is much more complicated to send a signal from space that turns into a television program.

What’s The Difference Deciding On A Provider

A recent move has made me have to check out the different television providers and if that was not enough on top of a big move the shock I felt when talking to the local cable company was enough to make me know calling them was a dumb idea.

The charges per month were so high that if I got satellite and ordered pay pre-view movies 5 or 6 times I would still be a head of the game.

The reason for even calling was just to check it out, because satellite TV has so much more to offer over the cable companies just in their special packages not to mention the amount of HD programs. Then of course they have movie channels that they offer free for a few months.

But, back to the cable company they honestly feel what they charge for their monthly programming is worth every penny and even will tell you how they could charge more. I for one would like to know where they get this idea.

NASCAR Fans It’s Race Time

This weekend is the AT&T Chevrolet taking place at the Richmond International Raceway and in chassis No. 204 in the Crown Royal 400.Jeff Burton will be there competing.

He wont be alone, he is going to be traveling with the Directv setup as a part of the HotPass Coverage and the channel that is dedicated to Burtons car is 792 and for HD broadcasting it will be on 797.

The car was built new for the 2007 season, this is the same car Burton raced at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September 23rd where he finished 18th. Then later raced this car again at the Phoenix International Raceway in November on the 18th where he finished 12th.

Now this weekend he will be one of four cars featured on DIRECTV’s HotPass Coverage that allows viewers to watch all the action through DIRECTV’s multiple camera angles, real-time car telemetry and listen to in-car audio communication.

So with Directv you have the inside scoop as it happens on the track, a seat as the race can’t give you that kind of information.
