The Proof Is In The Research

Recently there has been information released on a study by SNL Kagan that shows that as many as ten percent of television viewers who are about to loose their channels with the change from analog to digital television have all ready opted change to pay television broadcasting and many have decided to take one of the satellite TV deals.

For many viewers rather than purchase a new television or a converter box it is more exciting and convenient to have satellite television installed in their homes for use with their existing television.

This change is believed with studies like these to add to the customer base of cable and satellite TV providers as the time draws closer for the analog broadcasts to end in February 2009. Because of this there are more satellite TV deals and cable deals to entice new subscribers as this can be thought of as the great race, since there are still millions that are depending on their antenna and local stations for news and entertainment.

Parental Control Of The TV

Every parent is concerned what their children might see on television and with a DirecTV receiver there are ways to deal with just what they can see and what they can not see.

In the receivers there is a Lock and Limit feature that can be set to lock children out of channels that have programming that is not for their age group and that the parent does not feel comfortable with them watching.

This feature also has one other advantage that is good for using for everyone including the babysitter. This feature is the ability to limit spending on pay per view programming, by doing this it ensures that there are no pay per view programs unless the pin number is used to authorize using pay pre view.

The same holds true for the blocked channels from the children, while it may not be programming that is suited for them there will be programs and movies that the adults in the household want to see and this is easily done just by putting in a personal identification or pin number.

This is a way of keeping the children safe while watching television and the parents content that they are doing the right thing when it comes to the quality of programs their children watch.

In on going yearly research the 2007 American Customer Satisfaction Index, which is done by the University of Michigan Business School, DirecTV Satellite TV was rated higher in customer satisfaction over some of the major cable companies for the past seven years. This has to say something about the service over other providers to this rating that is done by the school rated DirecTV at a score of 67.

While at the same time it rated the cable companies and other satellite providers in their research at 65.

In this research some of the things that are included is customer loyalty and the companies ability to retain customers.

Do I have, Analog or Digital And How Do I Know?

Everyone has heard that analog television signals are going to end in February of 2009, in order to even watch local channels unless you do one of several things you will be without television. The first thing would be to purchase the converter box that is being talked about, the second thing is if you have a television with a digital tuner you can still receive the new digital signals that will be transmitted. The third thing that you can to is go with a cable or satellite TV provider.

What you need to know is what type of television you have, is it a standard television that receives analog signals or is it a television with a digital tuner.

Ways to tell if have a digital tuner:

If the television was purchased prior to 1998 it is most likely a standard television.

While it varies there were many of the television models that have been sold from the year 2004 that have digital tuners. Although this is not a hard and fast rule, it does depend on the model.

What’s The Difference Deciding On A Provider

A recent move has made me have to check out the different television providers and if that was not enough on top of a big move the shock I felt when talking to the local cable company was enough to make me know calling them was a dumb idea.

The charges per month were so high that if I got satellite and ordered pay pre-view movies 5 or 6 times I would still be a head of the game.

The reason for even calling was just to check it out, because satellite TV has so much more to offer over the cable companies just in their special packages not to mention the amount of HD programs. Then of course they have movie channels that they offer free for a few months.

But, back to the cable company they honestly feel what they charge for their monthly programming is worth every penny and even will tell you how they could charge more. I for one would like to know where they get this idea.
